HR & Payroll Specialist

Join our dedicated physical therapy team as an HR & Payroll Specialist! This role combines people-focused human resources support with accurate and efficient payroll processing. You’ll help ensure our clinic runs smoothly by supporting recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and payroll — all while maintaining the positive, relationship-centered culture that defines our team.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding for clinical and administrative staff.
    • Maintain accurate employee files.
    • Support employee relations and promote a positive, team-oriented workplace.
    • Ensure compliance with labor, HIPAA, and healthcare regulations.
    • Assist with performance reviews, training coordination, and HR communications.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Process biweekly payroll using HR/payroll software (QBO).
  • Verify timesheets, apply overtime rules, and ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Support managers in tracking PTO, sick leave, and holiday pay.
  • Administer health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
  • Generate payroll reports, prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, and maintain tax compliance.
  • Gather information for annual workers’ compensation insurance audit and assist with renewals of various insurance products.
  • Perform various accounting support tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field required.
    • 3+ years of experience in HR or payroll required (healthcare or clinic experience preferred).
    • Strong working knowledge of HIPAA and federal/state labor laws.
    • Excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail.
    • Additional certifications (i.e. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.) preferred but not required.

Work Environment

  • Setting: Outpatient physical therapy clinic with clinical and administrative staff.
    • Reports to: CFO
    • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with flexibility where available

Compensation & Benefits

Because we’re open to varied levels of experience, the pay range for this initial role is fairly wide ($40K to $80K); an employment offer will be made based on applicable experience and education.  Our benefits package is comprehensive and includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, employer-matching 401(k), PTO, and more.
